So a couple months ago , knowing my job was coming to an end and I was going to be unemployed, I thought I would shoot down to Ecuador and check it out. Then a month ago I realized the Dakar Rally was starting in Lima, Peru on the 6th January 2018. So my plans , which there really are none , changed and I decided follow the race for 6 days while it was in Peru and my son was going to join me. So then we wanted to ride the Death Road in Bolivia, who wouldn't want to, so we ate going to nip over to LA Paz and see it for 10 days and then fly back to Lima for the start of the Dakar. Great plan I thought until I realized we needed a visa for Bolivia at a $160 a pop for Americans, I guess they don't like us , however if you are African, it is free. So I whipped out my green mamba and luckily Brandon has a SA passport aswell, so we mailed them off to the Bolivian Consulate and here it is 3 days to departure and no passport back yet. I phoned them till I was blue in the face and nobody answers and you leave a message begging them to call you back, but of course they don't, so who knows maybe it arrives on time .
So will do plan B if it does not arrive , which still needs to be formulated . I should be packing but busy winterizing my house and motorbikes and snowblower so my lovely wife doesn't have to shovel the driveway, and can just fire up the snowblower and do it. So am just taking a 48L Osprey rucksack with a sleeping bag and my tent and then my 3 socks, 3 shirts and 3 pants and 3 underrods, is all the clothing I need , well nobody needs anymore than that .
