Walking down the street with a delicious cafe ice cream I bumped into Lyndon Poskitt walking with his girlfriend. We must have talked for ten minutes about the Dakar and he mentioned he is not doing it next year, he's done there's and finished all three and that this Dakar was by far the toughest and dangerous he's done. After paying Dakar $50 000 to be able to film himself and publish it, they didnt even have the Mollie Moto Category, which he came second in, allow them on the podium. He was not to happy about that, especially after having all the top three in each category on the podium !
So my initial feeling towards him has changed from the first day when I tried to talk to him while he was working on his bike, I was wrong yet again.
With ice cream running down my arms by now, I headed to the bus terminal to get tickets to Buenas Aires on the overnight bus only to find i had lost my credit card.
Chairman arrived on the 23rd and we walled around Cordoba that day and the next, not much to see and do here in the second biggest city in Argentina.
Boarded the bus for Buenas Aires, which was by far the best bus thus far and served us dinner and breakfast and was comfortable for the twelve hour ride.
Arrived at 7am and went to our Hotel Morina. While walking there, all the shutters of the buildings are down so you have no idea what kind of area you are in and then two hours later it's all open and you are shocked by the nice coffee shops, boutiques and supermarkets that are everywhere.
Buenas Aires was most enjoyable and we walked everywhere in the four days we were there. Food and wine is excellent and returned to the the same restaurant all four nights, hey when you hit a winner why risk anything else and be disappointed. So good to have a steak meal again , well just a proper meal again after missing so many dinners chasing the Dakar, it was time to feast. The wine is even cheaper than in South Africa with a great selection.
Flew down to Patagonia to Calafate in hopes of doing the W walk in Torres de Paine. Being the holiday season and mid summer finding reasonably priced accomadation has been a challenge. Anyhow we did the Glacier Perito Moreno which was stunning.
