DAKAR DAY ONE. Piki Piki finally.

When I was holding up my flag a fellow countryman came over and chatted and I offered  a seat in the 4x4  I had rented. We all got a taxi to the airport to pick it up and head out. They did not have my 4x4 and had to take a Mitsubishi piece of shit car with a sewing machine engine in. I was livid and screed and nothing I could do.

Had been in contact with some SA Adventure riders for some time and we're planning to meet but never panned out. On the way down we pulled in for a short stop and low and behold there they were parked taking a break. What are the chances, anyhow we all met at the start at the first special stage in the dunes and it was bliksems warm. Was unrelated for me to be there at the Dakar in the dunes seeing these monsters eating up the sand.
We went back to Paracas where we had a room. Mich us and Elsabe camped at the dune with a Brit couple also on motor, what a great time with that gang, a laugh a minute.
Creg, the guy travelling with us found a great place to eat and drink , he now lives in London and is on a four month trip in South America and a pleasure to travel with.
