Amazon

We booked a 4 day tour in the jungle, and when the guy told me toilet paper was included, I kinda knew the rest and I was dead on. Oh well these things are so hard to organize and I tried to ask all the right questions but to no avail, why waist your breath. The gum boots were included as well, that confirmed it.
We left on the 9pm bus for a 10 hour journey, 539km. Arrived at sparrow far and someone surpringly met us and off we went to the tour office, gum boots issued, onto the riverboat with another 8 suckers for the 45 minute boat ride down the massive river to the starting point. Walked for 2 hours in mud to the luxury resort, hey for $290 you expect just what I visualized and confirmed on seeing it. It was just lovely.
The walls were 1x6 and the ceiling and windows were a tight net and it had a bathroom. So you can hear anyone in the 3 other rooms all attached to each other, it was hilarious. The mice would go from room to room and you would hear the Greeks, then Spanish as the mice moved into our room and then the other Greeks would be yelling at the poor little buggers.
Repeated nightly!
Anyhow the guide was very knowledgeable and we hiked a bunch and being on a lake was nice saw many Cayman and piranhas, didn't get to see an Anaconda but they are in the lake. Many squirrel Monkeys flying all over the place and Macaws and Howler monkey which makes an insane howl that sounds like a jet engine, truly impressive.

It rained off and on not to badly, didn't deter us to take a nice swim amongst 3 inquisitive otters and no piranha bothered us. The two Greek couples were a great bunch and had a young Professor Diego, from Lima, who filled us in on the countries history and politics and two young college girls from Mexico City.
The food was fine, but they had no beer !
Never did get to use the free toilet paper and the shower was not exactly a shower, water trickled out like puss from an old wound, was unbelievable, and had to kill the cockcroach that was climbing up my leg for a desperate drink of water, scared the cap out of me.
Every morning we would recap the mouse misery with the Greeks and the girls were quite upset, understandably I guess.
Our time was up and we trudged back to the boat in our gum boots for the boat ride back and then the 10 hour bus ride back to Cusco. Like a dumbass I didn't realize it was New Years eve and we would be on a bus to celebrate. Turns out the bus tickets we have ,the company doesn't work on New Year's eve! So we had to buy new tickets from another outfit for the long slog back to Cusco. We arrived at 4 am ,just in time to witness the last of the hard core parties and the cleaners picking up all the trash as we made our way to Casa Grande.
All the rooms were booked so we were unable to shower. A bunch of people were still in the quartyard still having at it as we collected our bags and changed and prepared a small bag for the next event at 1 10 am.
