LA PAZ AND THE DEATH ROAD RIDE 24 - 27 February 18

We arrived at at 5am into the bus terminal and grabbed some coffee and a toasted cheese and ham sandwich. It is a huge terminal with many people milling around and sleeping all over the place.
Daylight emerged and we exited and walked to our apartment we booked and luckily we could enter straight away and it was huge up on the 3 rd floor with a view of all the unfinished buildings, which is every building in La Paz including  our apartment block, with the two upper floors totally undone. We strolled downtown to Cathedral San Francisco where they were having a huge parade with President Alvo Morales present to receive  a petition from some Inca who had run thousands of miles across the country and finished here handing it over to Morales. The security is pretty slack and was able to get up close but couldn't understand a thing, but they had the band and plenty of military around.

With La Paz being in like a huge basin, which would be great to flush away and start again, cause it is all orange brick color and none of the buildings are completed. The apartment we are in , the two floors above are not completed, just a shell. The city has numerous gondolas that go up and down the valley and are adding another five lifts, so we rode a few around and up to a huge market which they claim is the biggest in the world, which I am sure it's not. Everything over here is the biggest, driest, largest, highest tallest and deepest, but I don't think so.
We then walked around the witches market where you can buy all kinds of voodoo crappie and Llama fetuses, which you place in your foundation when you build your house and it brings you closer to Pachamama and then all is good.

DEATH ROAD CYCLE

Decided to ride The Death Road by bicycle, so they picked me up 7 am and was with a group of of nine and drove up for an hour where we unloaded the bikes and gear which was pretty shitty gear and bike, but it's Bolivia. Rode down the pass for twenty minutes then loaded them up again and drove for twenty minutes to where the dirt starts and had a breakfast snack and the proceeded on the 62 km ride all downhill. Was an exceptional ride and spectacular scenery abounded around every corner as lwe dropped down a total of 2 thousand metres.
